Rio Hermoso Hotel is situated within Lanin National Park, 25 kmts from San Martin de Los Andes in Argentina, surrounded by calm native woods. The hotel makes use of the spectacular natural wonders of Patagonia and boasts excellent views of the river. Privacy, comfort and close contact with nature is central to the hotel’s philosophy.
Its architecture is a fusing of contemporary design and the warmth of a cosy mountain cabin combining native timber and millenary stones, most of which contain fossils. Rooms are decorated in a wood and stone scheme.
Prepare yourself for an excellent fine dining experience at the Rio Hermoso’s restaurant. Fine wines and “Picadas” or finger foods are served at the Open Bar, enjoyed both inside the Lounge Bar and on its outdoor deck next to the river. Savor fusion “haute cuisine” or a regional and seasonally inspired menu at the Modern restaurant. There is a refined teatime service offering cakes, breads and homemade pastries.
Chapelco Ski center is 15 minutes from Hotel by car.
Lying in the mountains of northern Patagonia, the spectacular Cerro Chapelco resort hovers above the striking Lake Lacar and the picturesque town of San Martin de los Andes. With vistas extending into Chile and the nearby national parks, Cerro Chapelco is perhaps, one of the most beautiful ski resorts in South America and undoubtedly one of the gems of Argentina. With mostly modern lifts and the ideal ski town of San Martin less then 15 miles away, it is easy to see why hordes of Argentines choose to come to this resort all season long.
With 22 trails of various difficulties and excellent snow quality, Chapelco combines extreme adrenaline and landscape. The impressive view of Lake Lácar, the silence of the lenga forests and the striking presence of the Lanín Volcano breaking the mountain range horizon make this place a unique option to practice winter sports.
In addition to the modern infrastructure and the beauty of the surroundings, Chapelco is one of the safest and most reliable ski resorts in Patagonia. Its 140 “skiable” hectares, with slopes ranging from 20Cº to 45Cº and a 730-meter vertical drop, are patrolled by highly qualified teams that watch the trails and have fix posts at several spots in the mountain.
Chapelco offers the possibility of practicing various ski modalities: alpine, Nordic and randonee. Likewise, its trails are chosen by lovers of snowboarding, who display their skills in the four categories of this sport: half pipe, parallel slalom, big air and fun park, at the Snowboard park located at the end of the Graeff lift station, on the 1,700 platform.
